On World Paper Bag Day, the committed students of Lexicon IHM took significant steps towards promoting sustainability by crafting and distributing paper bags to local shops. This initiative underscores the mission to highlight the importance of choosing paper over plastic, emphasizing its critical role in the hospitality industry.
Celebrated annually on July 12th, World Paper Bag Day reminds individuals and businesses to make environmentally conscious choices. This year, Lexicon IHM students enthusiastically participated, showcasing their dedication to a greener planet.
The initiative aims to inspire a shift towards sustainable practices in daily life. Plastic bags, notorious for their long decomposition time and harmful impact on wildlife, significantly contribute to environmental pollution. In contrast, paper bags are biodegradable, recyclable, and made from renewable resources, making them a superior alternative.
Ms. Farheen Belgaumwala, Learning & CSR Ambassador, Lexicon IHM, expressed her pride in the students’ efforts: “We engage in eco-friendly activities at our college to instill a sense of social responsibility in our students, fostering a culture of community involvement and preparing them to contribute positively to the society.
